  • Job Details
  • Caring of patients pre op, phase I and phase II recovery.
  • PACU nurses care for patients after surgery and must demonstrate advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and caring for patients in Phase I.
  • Candidates for PACU jobs require critical care skills to assess incision sites, monitor body temperature, and track other indicators of stability or complications.
  • Ideal candidates for post-anesthesia care units have natural abilities to think critically.
  • Past experience in critical care and surgical nursing is a plus.
    • Job Requirements
    • 2+ years experience as a critical care RN (i.e., ER & ICU) in a hospital setting may be accepted substitute for PACU nurse experience.
    • Valid BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association.
    • A valid professional license within the state of practice.
    • A Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) credential from the American Heart Association is recommended and may be required for specific registered nurses and travel nurse positions.
    • Other specialty-related certifications are preferred and may be required for specific positions (i.e. NIHSS & TNCC).
      • Schedule Information
      • Shifts vary between 8, 10 and 12 hours and can be Days, Evenings, Nights and Weekends/Holidays and vary between units ASU and PACU.
      • No guarantee of hours or shift preference.
      • On Call shift 0-3 times per month (8-hour night and 24-hour weekends/holidays).
